Courtney & Ollie – A South of France Destination Wedding
There’s something about a Provence wedding that instantly slows everything down. The light, the heat, the faded elegance of the buildings, the way time seems to stretch a little longer. Courtney and Ollie’s South of France destination wedding at Domaine de Blanche Fleur was exactly that sun-soaked, heartfelt and effortlessly beautiful.
They’re childhood sweethearts from Essex, UK and their wedding felt like a true celebration of everything they love: family, music, warmth and bringing all their favourite people together in one unforgettable place.
A South of France Wedding in the Height of Summer
Set in the French countryside, Provence delivered one of those unreal wedding days unseasonably hot, with temperatures reaching 40°C and glowing with that unmistakable South of France light.
Despite the heat, the day unfolded with ease. Guests gathered beneath open skies for an outdoor ceremony, surrounded by the rustic elegance of the venue pale stone walls, soft greenery and that unmistakable French charm that makes destination weddings here so special.
One of the most meaningful moments? Courtney’s brother officiated the ceremony, which added such a personal, emotional layer and set the tone for the entire day.
A Relaxed, Elegant Destination Wedding with 120 Guests
With around 120 guests, this was a big celebration that still felt intimate. The venue allowed everyone to spread out, breathe and fully enjoy the experience exactly what couples hope for when planning a destination wedding in the South of France.
The day was planned beautifully by Our Fabulous Things, whose calm, thoughtful approach kept everything flowing seamlessly from start to finish. From the ceremony through to cocktails and into the evening, it all felt intentional yet relaxed my favourite kind of wedding to photograph.
Music, Golden Light & Stealing Moments Away
Cocktail hour brought one of my favourite parts of the day. Live music by Jake Oakshott set the tone and at one point guests jumped in and sang along with him spontaneous, joyful, and such a vibe. Those moments are pure gold for documentary wedding photography.
We quietly snuck Courtney and Ollie away during cocktail hour for a short couple shoot, making the most of the afternoon light and then again later for golden hour portraits as the sun dipped lower. Provence really comes alive at that time of day softer tones, longer shadows and a calm after the heat of the afternoon.
They were completely at ease, which made photographing them feel effortless. No over-posing, no rushing just letting moments unfold naturally.
Photography & Film in the South of France
I photographed the day with a documentary approach, blended with soft editorial moments, focusing on real connection, movement and atmosphere. The film was beautifully captured by Peekaboo Films, whose style paired perfectly with the relaxed, emotional feel of the day.
This is exactly why I love photographing destination weddings in Provence and the South of France every wedding feels unique, but the setting elevates everything.
Why Provence Is Perfect for a Destination Wedding
If you’re dreaming of a Provence wedding, this day is the perfect example of why couples choose the South of France:
Incredible natural light
Elegant yet relaxed venues
Space for large guest lists without feeling crowded
A holiday atmosphere for guests
That timeless French aesthetic that never dates
It’s ideal for couples who want something beautiful but unfussy, stylish but emotional.
